In 2018, there was a significant shift in the market where, for the first time, 54% more consumers utilised search on Amazon as opposed to Google, despite search engines being built for the key purpose of selling advertising space to retailers for product sales.

This change ignited a shift in consumer behaviour – consumers know what they want and where to find it. It also signalled a change in how advertisers support e-commerce, with increasingly more investment moving to “in-e-store” activity.
